USD Modestly Firmer Against The Majors

FOREX

The USD is mixed in early Monday dealings. The index last at 1224.50, slightly above end Friday levels in NY. We are firmer against the majors, but AUD and NZD have risen a touch. Cross asset moves are muted outside early softness in US TSY futures.

  • The early impetus in US Tsy futures has been to the downside, but we are comfortably above Friday lows yet. Note that there is no cash US Tsy trading on account of the Japan holiday.
  • USD/JPY has drifted higher, but couldn't sustain moves above 144.90. The pair was last 144.80/85.
  • AUD and NZD both sit a touch above Friday closing levels, AUD/USD last 0.6715, NZD/USD in the 0.6245/50 region.
  • NOK is the weakest performer, off 0.20%, but liquidity will be lighter for this pair in Asia Pac hours. EUR/USD is a touch weaker, last down to 1.0940.
  • The data calendar is light throughout the region today.
