DOLLAR-MYR: USD/MYR last sits at MYR4.2840, 32 pips worse off on the day.
Downside focus falls on Jun 30 low of MYR4.2770 and a break here would clear the
way to Jun 23 low of MYR4.2662. Conversely, bulls need a jump above Jun 29 high
of MYR4.2955 before attempting a move at the 50-DMA, intersecting at MYR4.3122.
- Former Malaysian PM Najib Razak won in a parliamentary by-election. His
Barisan National party participates in the ruling coalition. It is still unclear
how many MPs support current PM Muhyiddin, with the opposition set to table a
motion of no confidence, possibly as soon as next week.
- The BNM is prepared to deliver their monetary policy decision tomorrow, with
most of the economists surveyed by BBG expecting a 25bp cut to the policy rate.
Later in the week, focus turns to Friday's industrial output.
