USDCAD Opens Resistance With 1.32 Handle

CANADA
  • USDCAD steps higher again with the latest decline in equities with a session high of 1.3122 for a ~150 pip swing since US CPI, 70 pips of which came in the snap reaction to the release.
  • It clears 1.3105 (Sep 9 high) to open 1.32 with 1.3209 (Sep 7 high) and the key 1.3224 (Jul 14 high), but that starts to hit levels that some analysts have looked to fade in the recent past.
  • CAD’s ties to the US sees continued gains on the day for the loonie against other high beta currencies but AUDCAD for example remains 0.75% off last week’s post-RBA & BoC lows.
