Speaking at the Geneva Trade Platform (Link here) USTR Katherine Tai states that her talks with Chinese VP Lai were a 'good start' but that she would bring up China's failure to comply with commitments in the Phase One trade deal between the two nations in ongoing talks w/Beijing.
- On WTO reform, Tai states that "Reforming dispute settlement is not about restoring the Appellate Body for its own sake, or going back to the way it used to be...[disupute resolution is] wieldy and bureaucratic...Let's not prejudge what a reformed system would look like..I want to hear from others how we can move forward. "
