Voter Enthusiasm For Biden And Trump Remains Low

US

A new survey from the Monmouth University Polling Institute has found that there is little enthusiasm, "for either President Joe Biden or former President Donald Trump becoming the major party nominees in 2024."

  • Monmouth: "Just 37% of voters express at least some enthusiasm about the possibility of Trump being the Republican nominee and 32% are enthusiastic about Biden getting the nod for the Democrats."
  • The survey finds that 76% of voters believe that Biden is too old to serve another term. Considerable higher than the 48% who believe Trump is too old for a second term.
  • Patrick Murray at Monmouth notes: “These two men were born only three and a half years apart, but public perceptions of their age are wildly different."
  • The survey findings suggest that White House efforts to minimise concerns over Biden's age have failed to convince voters that Biden is physically fit enough to serve a second term. The issue is likely to play a significant role in the 2024 presidential election campaign.
