Waller Confirmed To BoG

The Senate voted 48-47 to confirm Chris Waller - the director of research at the St Louis Fed - to the Federal Reserve Board of Governors for a term ending January 2030.

  • This vote was largely as expected (his fellow nominee Judy Shelton's confirmation has proven more difficult and looks somewhat unlikely at this point, with Senate Leader McConnell saying Wednesday that it the nomination can be reconsidered in the future).
  • As such little immediate market impact, though Waller's monetary policy outlook is broadly seen as leaning toward the dovish end of the spectrum.
