Warsaw Can’t Rule Out Deliberate Provocation in Russian Missile Incursion

  • Following the incursion of a Russian missile into Polish airspace on Dec 29, Polish security officials have stated that Warsaw cannot rule out deliberate provocation from Russia, with the security service now having enough information “to confirm that this missile was launched from Russian systems”. Officials have connected the incident to the change in political leadership in Poland.
  • The NBP governor Glapinski could be subject to further probes as Money.pl report that the coalition are looking into further options to investigate the head of the central bank. The report follows appearances from Tusk yesterday, at which he defended the importance of the independence of the central bank.
  • The Parliamentary Finance Committee are set to resume work on the draft budget for this calendar year. Markets are now expecting an investor trip to the UK from the Polish premier, at which he’s expected to drum up funding.
  • No key data due Thursday, with prelim CPI numbers on Friday the calendar highlight. Y/Y inflation is expected to slow to 6.5% from 6.6% prior.
