What to Watch

ENERGY
  • The latest Baker Hughes rig count data is due for release at 18:00BST. The oil rig count continued the upward trend last week up to 627. The gas rig count has been holding relatively unchanged in recent weeks with last week showing a count of 155.
  • The ICE and Nymex commitment of traders reports will be released after the close today at 18:30BST and 15:30EST. Both Brent and WTI net longs showed a decline last week with uncertainty over Russian crude supplies and with Chinese oil demand.
  • The virtual OPEC+ meeting take place on Dec 4 with the JMMC meeting prior to the OPEC+ group meeting. The OPEC+ group is expected to keep production targets unchanged although lower prices and weaker demand have increased the risk of further cuts.
