Whiting Brings Maintenance Works Forward from Sept to July

REFINING

Planned works at BP’s 435kb/d Whiting refinery on the 255kb/d Pipestill 12 crude unit and the 95kb/d coker have been brought forward from September to July, according to Bloomberg sources.

  • The work on the largest of three crude units is scheduled to extend into early September in addition to the days required to restore operations following the works.
  • The turnaround was originally scheduled for 2 months starting in early September.
  • No reason was provided for the changed schedule but fuel supplies in the Midwest could tighten during the summer driving season to support margins and retail pump prices.
