Won Weaker For Fourth Day

Won is weaker again, USD/KRW approaching the top of yesterday's range. USD/KRW last up 1.95 at 1171.30, bulls will look for a clear break above yesterday's high of 1171.65 before targeting the 2021 high at 1181.10. Support is seen at 1157.35 a 23.6% retracement level.

  • On the coronavirus front there were 1,892 new cases in the past 24 hours, down from over 2,000 in each of the past two days. The agriculture ministry said earlier it has set aside KRW 20bn to offer rebates to users of food delivery apps to promote social distancing and support local restaurants, the scheme will start on Wednesday.
  • Looking ahead markets await a BoK report on financial and FX markets, while Vice FinMin Lee holds weekly meeting on inflation and growth strategy which could yield some comments.
