WTI Oct23 Option Expiry – Fri 15 Sept

OIL OPTIONS
  • A total of 587kbbls of open October 23 options positions on CME and ICE are due to expire against the October future close tomorrow. Current aggregate open interest is 271k calls and 316k puts.
  • The open interest across all WTI options on both exchanges is currently 1.645m calls and 1.33m puts.
  • The most significant open position near the current market is at the 90$/bbl strike price with 17.5k of open call contracts. Some call volumes sit at the strikes at each dollar higher but the next big exposure on the upside is at 95$/bbl.
  • After the recent price rally there are no significant open put volumes until around 87$/bbl or below.
