CCB Policy Seen as Sufficiently Restrictive

COLOMBIA
  • Just ahead of the close yesterday, Colombian central bank's Villamizar outlined the risk of a sharp slowdown this year, with the Colombian economy to grow 0.0 - 1.0% this year.
  • Villamizar stated that the bank's policy stance is tight enough to keep price rises to within the target range, stating that "we are now thinking that we're at a sufficiently contractive monetary policy stance to reach the target in the medium-term".
  • Elsewhere, the deputy finance minister yesterday doesn't see Colombia having new oil contracts "for now", however did not rule them out for the future. For the time being, the government will be focusing on existing contracts as part of their longer-term energy strategy.
