CPPCC To Conclude 11 March-State Media


MNI (London) - Chinese state media has confirmed that the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) - one of the 'two sessions' (lianghui) alongside the National People's Congress (NPC) from this weekend. Most market focus will be on the NPC, the 3,000-strong group of delegates that deliberates legislation, appoints gov't officials, and oversees the Cabinet.

  • The CPPCC, which gets underway Saturday 4 March, is a political advisory body composed of representatives from (state approved) civil organisations. Its role is viewed as less influential on markets or the outlook for China's political landscape.
