Equinor Partly Evacuates Hammerfest LNG, Production Ongoing

Equinor’s Hammerfest LNG plant on has been partly evacuated but LNG production is still ongoing, causing a spike in TTF gas prices.

  • Parts of the plant have been evacuated following a gas leak, an Equinor spokesperson, Ellen Maria Skjelsbaek, said.
  • The Hammerfest LNG plant has a capacity of 4.2mtpa and usually exports six to seven cargoes per month.
  • The plant exported only two cargoes in May – 1 May and 29 May – due to compressor fault.
  • Following the headlines, the TTF front-month contract surged to €27.895/MWh, before easing back.
  • TTF JUL 23 up 4.8% at 26.46€/MWh
