POLAND: Inflation Marginally Misses Consensus In Dec, Poland Observes Holiday
POLAND
- Commenting on reports suggesting that Poland will not use its rotating EU presidency to host the bloc's summit due to a conflict between the President and Prime Minister, EU Affairs Minister Adam Szlapka said that "it doesn't matter where the summit takes place. The most important thing is what is on the agenda and who sets it, and what's the summit about." According to the earlier RMF FM report, the informal summit will be organised in Brussels at the beginning of February.
- Headline inflation undershot the consensus forecast of +4.9% Y/Y and accelerated to +4.8% in December from +4.7% prior, according to preliminary data released Friday. The marginal miss is unlikely to force the National Bank of Poland (NBP) to change tack ahead of the first monetary policy meeting of the year, which will take place next week.
- Poland observes a public holiday today.
