Measures Announced By Government To Boost Productivity

  • President Boric’s administration has announced several measures to improve productivity in Chile, according to an emailed statement on Friday. The government has a goal of increasing Chile’s productivity, measured as the country’s output over the cost of inputs such as labor and capital, by 1.5% per year. (BBG)
  • These include:
    • A bill that will streamline the process to approve investments
    • Expanding programs for training in digital skills
    • Allow the state to invest in venture capital funds
    • Elimination of notarial procedures
    • Digitalization of foreign trade and logistics processes
    • Increasing competition in domestic shipping
    • Subsidies to hire women and younger people
