China's real estate sector will have less of a negative impact on the economy in 2023, according to Kany Yi, Commissioner of National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).

Kang, speaking at a State Council press conference, said China's urbanization rate is low by developed country levels, which shows the potential for future demand. In the future, housing will be for living not for speculation, and policy support will be given to aid people's needs for housing, he said.

On employment, Kang said there will be an overall improvement in conditions, however there remains pressure due to structural reasons and a record number of graduates entering the market.
