MNI BRIEF: US Federal Deficit Widens to USD314 Billion in Nov

The U.S. federal government deficit widened to USD314.0 billion in November, a record shortfall for the month of November and also the highest reading since March, the Treasury department said Tuesday.

The government spent USD589 billion last month, 18% higher than November 2022. Government revenues were USD275 billion, a 9% increase over last year. Adjusted for calendar differences, the deficit in November was USD65 billion higher than this month last year, the Treasury said. So far this fiscal year, the deficit has increased 15% on a calendar-adjusted basis.
