During a press conference with his Latvian counterpart Egils Levits, Polish President Andrzej Duda confirmed that U.S. President Joe Biden is expected to visit central Europe (which Duda defined as a "region stretching from Romania to Estonia") later this month.
- Duda reminded that Biden visited the Polish cities of Warsaw and Rzeszow last year and said that "we'll see if he visits us again [this year]."
- He stressed that security concerns play a key role these days and will determine the timing of any further announcements from the White House.
- Duda noted that the visit would be of "great value" and would boost regional security, adding that he might have more information in the coming days.
- Latvian President Levits agreed that Biden's visit would a strong signal for the region, regardless of which country the POTUS chooses as his destination.
- Duda dodged a question about his assessment of the court bill that is currently debated in parliament and is needed to unlock EU recovery funds.
- The Polish President may refuse to sign off on legislation and his veto may only be overruled by a three-fifths majority in the lower house.
