- The White House has stepped up attacks on a supposed Republican threat to social spending arguing that, "virtually every Republican budget or fiscal plan over the last decade has included repeal of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and deep cuts to Medicaid.”
- White House: “The American people deserve to see congressional Republicans’ full and detailed budget plan... and should have the chance to compare it with the President’s budget plan, which he will release March 9.”
- Axios writes that Biden's "relentless focus on the economy" is a high-risk strategy arguing that, "if the economy enters a deep recession before November 2024, the president would have spent precious political capital demanding credit — when voters would be more inclined to hand out blame."
- Bharat Ramamurti, of the National Economic Council, said: "We think the underlying numbers about consumer spending and business investment are also positive … They show that people have a lot of confidence in their financial condition and where the economy is headed."
