Russia Claim Further Advances Along the Front Line in Ukraine

  • Russia claimed further advances along the front line in Ukraine, as Western intelligence said the Kremlin's forces have strengthened defensive positions in the country's southern Zaporizhzhia region in recent weeks, the Wall Street Journal report. The Russian Defense Ministry said on Monday that its troops pushed forward "a few kilometers," breaking through Ukrainian resistance at the front line. Kyiv didn't immediately respond to a request for comment on Russia's alleged advances.
  • Russian gasoil shipments to the Middle East and Asia have surged to the highest in six months after the EU ban on seaborne imports, according to data from Kpler compiled by Bloomberg. Exports are at ~453k tons so far in February, up ~60% m/m with almost a third of shipments headed for Saudi Arabia.
  • President Putin will hold an annual meeting with judges this afternoon. There are no other speakers or data releases scheduled.
