Trudeau Sees More 'Targeted Supports' Coming As Budget Prepared

CANADA
(MNI) OTTAWA
  • Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said Saturday at a party meeting the session of Parliament opening Monday will focus on the economy and more "targeted" fiscal supports
  • "How can we give targeted supports that won’t contribute to higher inflation, but how can we be there for people who need it, with things like doubling the GST credit or a rental benefit for the lowest income renters, or dental care for kids from families who can’t afford dental care"
  • "Because we have, even in a global economy slow down, the strongest fiscal position of any G7 country, we have the room to give targeted supports to people who need it. And we will be able to do that"
