Shell intends to carry out maintenance at its Pernis, Rotterdam refinery from March.
- It is the biggest oil processing complex in Europe. Refining in the region has been thrown into the spotlight as it tries to move away from Russian refined products from February 5.
- Europe is turning towards Middle East flows and those from the US Gulf, though high planned maintenance levels in the US will limit availability in the short term.
- Shell will do maintenance work on one of the plants’ two processing units, likely impacting diesel production.
- Shell will also take a vacuum unit offline. It is not clear if a hydrocracker will also be down for maintenance.
