What Has Actually Changed With China's COVID Controls?

CHINA

MNI (London): The authorities are to ‘finetune’ the COVID approach via 10 new measures (while stating it is not passive re-opening):

  1. More accurately divide risk areas (refining enforced lockdowns to specific buildings, floors and households)
  2. No longer enforce the proof of negative test results for those moving region-to-region
  3. Mild and asymptomatic can isolate at home, rather than in a centralized location
  4. Increase the speed at which high risk areas are unlocked, reduced to 5 consecutive days with no new infections
  5. Drop restrictions on pharmacies, and ensure they are well stocked and operating normally
  6. Accelerate vaccination of the elderly
  7. Give more powers to local doctors and health institutions to monitor and track the health of local communities
  8. Ensure normal operation of society by not restricting the flow of people, business and industry throughout the epidemic response
  9. Strengthen security guarantees to ensure access to medical treatment (e.g. enforce ban on blocking fire exits)
  10. Optimize the virus response in schools, with all schools open fully outside of risk areas
