GILT SUMMARY: Gilts are a little stronger early Thursday, with most focus on the
last minute scramble on a Brexit deal ahead of Sunday's planned EU summit.
- The Dec 18 Gilt future is up 19 ticks at 123.18, which is day's high (narrow
trading range of 122.92-123.18 thus far).
- The 2-Yr yield is down 2.1bps at 0.72%, 5-Yr is down 2.2bps at 0.925%, 10-Yr
is down 2.5bps at 1.371%, and 30-Yr is down 2.4bps at 1.93%.
- Jun20 through Mar22 Short Sterling contracts up 2 ticks.
- UK PM May's meeting with EU's Juncker failed to deliver a final Brexit
agreement; May set to return to Brussels on Saturday ahead of Sunday's summit.
- Several obstacles remain: Spain and France have reservations, while Germany`s
Merkel says she will not attend the summit if a deal is not ready to sign off.
- Dearth of data Thursday; BoE's Saunders speaks after market close (2055GMT).
- Markets looking fairly subdued on U.S. holiday.
