Kashagan Output to Resume by End of Oct

OIL

Production at Kashagan is due to resume by the end of October according to IFX.

  • Output declined on Aug 3 due to a gas release and is currently operating at just a quarter of normal levels at 100kbpd. Kashagan had planned to boost output to 500,000 bpd after upgrades.
  • Kazakhstan has previously stated aims to stick to its oil production target of 85.5m tonnes for 2022 thanks to higher than planned output earlier this year.
  • All three mooring points at the CPC terminal are also expected to be operational by Oct 15. Two of the three moorings have out of action since late August after inspections reported damage to the buoyancy tanks.
