DOLLAR-CANADA: USD/CAD last deals at C$1.3376, 7 pips worse off.
- The rate jumped 64 pips yesterday, as softer WTI prices and data-inspired
greenback strength conspired against it. Crude oil posted its largest daily
decline since the beginning of March, U.S. PPI topped expectations, while U.S.
jobless claims dropped to the lowest levels since Oct 1969.
- Bulls look for a clean breach of the psychological C$1.3400 level, after
having a look above the level on Apr 5 and peaking just a handful of pips shy of
it yesterday. Above here opens the upper Bollinger band (3%) at C$1.3440. On the
downside, initial focus falls on the cloud top at C$1.3367 and a fall below
would expose the 21-DMA at C$1.3358.
- BoC Dep Gov Timothy Lane will speak on a panel at the IMF later today.
