Following a review of COVID-19 tiering in England, Health Secretary Matt Hancock announced in the House of Commons earlier that a large number of areas in south-east England will enter the highest risk COVID-19 tier 3 from Saturday
- Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, Peterborough, all of Hertfordshire, Surrey except Waverley, Hastings and Rother, Portsmouth, Gosport and Havant will all go into Tier 3 from Saturday following a spike in cases in the south east.
- Only Bristol and North Somerset (tier 3 to tier 2) and Herefordshire (tier 2 to tier 1) will move downwards.
