US TSYS: A quiet re-open for T-Notes, after the contract closed around the
middle of its daily range on Thursday, a touch lower on the day.
- CNBC suggested that the Trump-Xi meeting re: trade matters might not take
place until late April, at the earliest, but went on to note that this may take
the form of a full state visit, rather than just signing event. U.S. Tsy Sec
Mnuchin has since confirmed that there will be no Trump-Xi meeting this month,
stressing that he is pleased with the progress made in the talks.
- Trump later noted that there will be news on the matter in the next 3-4 weeks,
stressing that China has been very responsible & very reasonable.
- Thursday trade was quite limited, with trade war and Brexit headline watching
evident, and desks struggling to tie some of the moves in the space to any
notable catalysts.
- T-Notes last 122.22+, U.S. 10-Year cash Tsy yields closed at 2.630%.
