BOND SUMMARY: All eyes are on this evening's parliamentary vote in the UK in
which PM Theresa May will put her Withdrawal Agreement before MPs. There is
heightened headline risk, with Attorney General Geoffrey Cox's updated legal
opinion (due later this morning) eagerly awaited.
- Gilts have opened weaker with yields ~4-6bp higher across the curve. Current
yield levels: 2-year 0.785%, 5-year 0.961%, 10-year 1.239%, 30-year 1.7298%.
- US TSY yields have similarly pushed higher by ~2-3bp with the very long-end
steepening slightly. The 2s30s spread trades at 55.6bp up from a low of 54.2bp.
- The Jun-19 JGB futures trades at 152.70 down 3 ticks.
- Bunds have started on a weaker footing and the curve has steepened 2bps on the
day.
- Italian BTPs have rallied, defying the sell-off across much of the core &
periphery. Yields are <1bp lower from yesterday's close.
- The Euro$ futures strip has steepened with greens/blues down 3.0-3.5 ticks.
Short sterling futures have similarly underperformed in greens/blues, which are
down 6.5-7.5 ticks.
