Amos "Optimistic" of Lebanon/Israel Maritime Border Progress

Lebanon and Israel are still in talks over the disputed maritime border. The chief negotiator, US official Amos Hochstein says he is “optimistic” about progress.

  • "I remain optimistic that we can make continuous progress as we have over the last several weeks and I look forward to being able to come back to the region to make the final arrangement," Hochstein said.
  • Sources suggest Israel has offered Lebanon nothing south of maritime line 23 and Israel would allow Lebanon to explore the entire Qana Prospect.
  • Hochstein has said exploration in the region will begin as soon as an agreement is reached.
