US DATA PREVIEW: Analysts expect September to post healthy gains in personal
income and current dollar PCE, with median forecasts of +0.4% and +0.9%
respectively. The strong rebound in consumer spending is expected to be led by
hurricane-driven vehicle replacement and the surge in gas prices. However, the
core PCE price index is expected to continue its soft trend of a 0.1% gain, for
the fifth month in a row. While this would keep the Fed's preferred measure of
inflation well below the 2.0% y/y target, markets are expected to remain focused
on Friday's payroll report for policy indications.
