- The April PPI is expected to rise by 0.3% based on both the Bloomberg
consensus and MNI survey of analysts. This follows a 0.6% energy-related surge
in March.
- PPI ex. food and energy is expected to rise 0.2%, according to both Bloomberg
and MNI. The series was up 0.3% in March.
- Energy prices are expected to rise further, though at a slower rate, following
a 5.6% surge in the previous month, while food prices are expected to hold
steady after a 0.3% rebound. 
- There is a tendency to overestimate overall PPI in April and to underestimate
core PPI.
