STOCKS: Asia-Pacific stocks struggled overnight, despite an uptick in the yuan,
a positive China Caixin Services PMI reading and a FT report stating that
"Brussels is considering talks on a tariff-cutting deal between the world's big
car exporters to prevent an all-out trade war with the US," according to
diplomats briefed on the initiative.
- General pessimism surrounding protectionist matters and the negative lead from
Wall St. weighed as the region's major bourses traded lower.
- ZTE was perhaps the most notable performer, with its Hong Kong listing surging
after the U.S. allowed it to resume some of its business activities.
- U.S. Index futures posted marginal gains.
