AUSSIE
AUSSIE: AUD/USD last deals at $0.6774, almost unchanged on the day.
- The rate was range-bound yesterday, but managed to close a touch higher. It
opened on the front foot amid optimism re: the state of Sino-U.S. trade talks
and advanced through the session before erasing those modest gains into Europe.
London & NY hours saw it trade sideways through the rest of the day.
- The underlying tone remains heavy. Bears look for a resumption of the recent
slide resulting in a breach of $0.6760, the low of Sep 20. This would open up
the 76.4% retracement of the Sep 3-Sep 12 rally at $0.6737. A lift through the
$0.6800 barrier, however, would encourage bulls to target the 50-DMA at $0.6829.
- As a reminder, Australian PM Morrison is visiting the U.S. until Wednesday.
- On the radar today there is a speech from RBA Governor Low, scheduled for the
London morning/Sydney evening. Local data highlights this week include skilled
vacancies and jobs vacancies due Wednesday and Thursday respectively.
