AUSSIE
AUSSIE: AUD/USD sits a touch below the opening levels, last at $0.7068, which
represents the cloud base.
- The rate spiked a dozen pips higher as positive news on the Brexit front
buoyed broader risk appetite, before posting a leg lower upon the release of
softer than exp. domestic housing finance data & NAB biz. conf. survey. The
impact of these releases, however, proved short-lived and the pair recovered
promptly, perhaps aided by a Xinhua report stating that U.S. Tsy Sec Mnuchin,
U.S. TR Lighthizer & Chinese VP Liu held a phone call to discuss the next steps
in Sino-U.S. trade negotiations.
- Bears need a clean break below the 200-HMA at $0.7064, briefly breached
overnight, before challenging the 100-HMA, located at $0.7039. Conversely, bulls
need to clear $0.7081, which has capped gains today, before setting their sights
on the Mar 6/5 high of $0.7092/97.
- RBA Dep Gov Debelle will speak at 0700GMT/1800AEDT today.
