AUSSIE: AUS/USD last trades at $0.7115 in the early Asia-Pacific session,
sticking to a tight range early on.
- On Friday AUS/USD broke below the key level of $0.7150 before falling to
~$0.7120 at the end of the day. The pair was jittery ahead of a key by-election
at the weekend, which saw the incumbent Liberal Party lose a pivotal seat and
its narrow parliamentary majority. The independent candidate Kerryn Phelps
defeated her liberal rival effectively forcing PM Morrison into minority gov't.
- Bulls look for a break back above of $0.7150 before targeting the 2018 channel
top at $0.7204. Bears need a close below the key $0.7100 level to challenge
$0.7041, before a move further to $0.7000.
- Focus this week falls on RBA Dep. Gov. Debelle's Sydney addresses on Monday &
Tuesday, he will be joined by RBA Assistant Gov. Bullock's on Tuesday. Elsewhere
the AU docket looks a little thin.
