Azerbaijan Boosted Gas Exports By 11% YoY In Jan-Apr

Azerbaijan exported 8.4bcm of natural gas in the January-April period, up by 11% year on year, Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov said.

  • Europe has ramped up gas imports from Azerbaijan totalling 3.9bcm during the period, up from 3.5bcm a year earlier. Azerbaijan last year announced plans to increase gas exports to Europe to 20bcm by 2027.
  • This was followed by 3.4bcm of gas exports to Turkey, up from 2.9bcm a year earlier.
  • The country’s natural gas production in the first four months of this year rose by 2.6% on the year to 16.2bcm.
  • Azerbaijan aims to expand the capacity of the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) to 20bcm, from 10bcm currently in order to increase natural gas exports to Europe.
