BOE: MPC 'Minded' For Sept Gilt Sales Start

The MPC said Thursday it is 'minded' to start the sale of Gilts from its APF before the end of September 2022, subject to a confirming MPC vote earlier in the month.

  • Policymakers decides a reduction in stock of purchased Gilts of GBP80 billlion in the first year would likely be appropriate, with around GBP10 billion in active sales each quarter.
  • Further provisional details on operational terms to be published on/around Sept 1
  • The Bank will provide final confirmation of initial sales schedule alongside announcement of future MPC vote, with at least one week's notice to start.
  • A 'provisional' market notice will be published at 1200BST Thursday.
