Headline inflation moved above 3.0% in November, taking it into letter 
writing territory for Bank of England Governor Mark Carney as it was 
more than one percentage point above the BOE's 2.0% target. The BOE had 
forecast CPI would peak at 3.2% in October, but the monthly profile has 
been a little different than expected, with volatile airfare and 
computer games prices having notable upward effects in November. Input 
prices spiked to up 7.3% on the year in November from up 4.8% in 
October, driven higher by a 27.5% year-on-year rise in crude oil prices. 
While volatile components are driving price moves month by month, core 
inflation is also elevated, coming in at 2.7% on the year in November 
and matching the October outturn.
