RATINGS: /CANADA: Fitch Ratings has affirmed Province of Alberta at 'AA';
Outlook Stable.
- Fitch notes the "he downturn in its natural resource markets, an area of
economic concentration for the province, lowered both GDP and provincial
revenues. Broad economic growth, assisted by improving natural resource prices,
resumed in 2017 and the province recorded gross domestic product (GDP) growth
ahead of the Canadian average. Economic growth continues but at slower rates
than 2017 as progress has been hampered by vacillating crude oil prices and
provincial market access constraints."
- They add they will review the rating again later in spring "after
parliamentary elections are held on April 16, 2019 and a budget for fiscal 2020
has been tabled."
