Chicago Fed's Goolsbee Eyed To Replace Brainard - WSJ

The WSJ reports that Chicago Fed's Goolsbee is being eyed to replace Lael Brainard as Fed Vice Chair, with President Biden expected to announce a nominee in the "coming weeks". The news raises questions as to who would replace Goolsbee as Chicago Fed President having only recently taken the position.

  • "Mr. Goolsbee voted to raise interest rates at the Fed’s Jan. 31-Feb. 1 meeting by a quarter percentage point. He hasn’t spoken publicly on his policy views since being named to his current post in December, but before joining the central bank last year, Mr. Goolsbee warned about the risks of raising interest rates too much and too little."
