CHINA PRESS: China's state media ratcheted up official rhetoric that the country
must stand by its ground in the trade war and not yield to U.S. threats. In a
commentary on Tuesday, the official newspaper the People's Daily said those who
said China should give in and seek truce in the trade war are "foolish and
naive." Stooping to the U.S. for compromise is "asking a tiger to peel off its
own skin," it said. Stating that the "Green State" of Oregon ships 90% of its
garbage to China, the newspaper said the U.S. wants China to only exist by
sacrificing its environment and labor, and won't allow it to upgrade to a more
advanced development model. China must continue to fight for its development
while keeping open to the world and be flexible, the newspaper said.
