Chinese Jet Demand Set for Mid-July Peak: Bloomberg NEF

JET FUEL

China jet fuel demand is set for a post-pandemic high of 833,000bpd by mid-July according to BNEF estimates as summer travel demand picks up.

  • Heading into 3Q, BNEF forecasts Chinese jet fuel demand for international flights could peak in mid-September at over 120,000 b/d, two months later than that of domestic flights.
  • Airline chiefs have blamed an inability to fly over Russian air space as the main factor impacting international flight availability in and out of China as it fails to reach pre-pandemic levels – unlike domestic flying.
