Chinese Jet Fuel Demand Is Rebounding Strongly: Adnoc

Chinese energy demand, in particular demand for jet fuel, has rebounded quickly this year with the economy’s reopening, Adnoc’s executive director, Musabbeh al Kaabi, said.

  • The market in China and Asia more broadly is at “an acceptable level of recovery,” al Kaabi said.
  • In China, “there are mixed signals but, in particular, with domestic aviation we’ve seen a strong pick up in activity. For energy demand in that part of the world, I think the recovery is in the right place.”
  • Earlier this week, Vitol’s Mike Muller said: “The bit missing from the China demand equation is long-haul jet travel, long-haul aviation. Globally and in China, domestic air travel is back to pre-pandemic levels if not above in many places but long-haul is not.”
