Chinese LNG Imports Down in May

China’s imports of LNG dropped to 4.93 million tonnes in May according to customs data, 28% down versus a year prior.

  • LNG imports from January to May came in at 26.5 million tonnes, 20% down versus a year a prior.
  • Pipeline gas import, mainly from Turkmenistan and Russia rose 26% from the year prior at 4.15 million tonnes in May.
