DOLLAR-YEN: Closed Tuesday on its 200-dma at Y109.03, today comes through at
Y109.02, after dipping to Y108.92 as risk was bruised by US Trump speech, failed
to mention progress in China trade talks/made no mention of tariff rolls backs.
Rate dipped to Y108.87 in pre Tokyo fix trade only to recover to Y109.11 post
fix. Whilst rate can close above its 200-dma it will keep hopes alive for
further upside progress. However, JPY remains the barometer of risk and will
react to comment concerning US-China trade talks. Some suggest USD/JPY is stuck
within a Y108.80-109.30 range, with Y109.50 providing stronger resistance
outside.
