Colombia is set to receive its first LNG imports of 2025, with two carriers heading to the SPEC LNG terminal in Cartagena, Platts said.

  • The Shell-chartered Pearl LNG arrived on Jan. 13 with a 70,000 mt cargo from Trinidad and Tobago.
  • The BP-chartered Celsius Granada is expected to arrive on Jan. 15, also carrying a cargo from Trinidad and Tobago. The exact date of the first delivery remains unclear.
  • Colombia has not imported LNG so far in January due to reduced demand from recent rainfall.
  • In 2024, Colombia set records for annual and monthly LNG imports, with 94.33 Bcf imported, up from 36.30 Bcf in 2023.
  • Imports typically fuel three power plants in the northern region.
  • In November 2024, Colombia imported its first cargo for domestic gas supply use.
