POWER: Czech Power Demand Edges Lower in 2024

Czech electricity consumption in 2024 – adjusted for temperatures – declined by 0.6% on the year, Amper Group said, cited by Reuters.
- Power demand last year was 8.5% below the five-year average.
- Czech natural gas consumption, adjusted for temperatures, increased by 1.5% on the year in 2024.
- Natural gas consumption declined by 16.7% compared to the five-year average.
- Energy consumption in the Czech Republic was partly lower in 2024 due to milder weather, limiting demand for heating, despite higher cooling demand in summer with above-average temperatures.
- On the supply side, Czech renewable power generation increased by 22% on the year in 2024 and by almost 50% compared with the five-year average.
