Dan Marokane Expected To Become Eskom CEO

  • A special Cabinet meeting may discuss the appointment of a new Eskom CEO today. The utility has been without a chief executive for almost a year, following Andre de Ruyter's explosive interview and resignation in February. Dan Marokane is the apparent front-runner to become the new CEO after Bloomberg reported Thursday that he was set to win a nomination, with Eskom refusing to comment on the matter.
  • The Presidency reached out to Chief Justice Raymond Zondo to ask if he would be willing to meet with President Cyril Ramaphosa in the coming week after the official criticised the executive for failing to secure full judicial independence. Zondo
